Well, after a year of "Sir-Yes-Sir" and discilipine my military service is over. A lost year of my life ended and I feel, shit! It was a year that gave me absolutely nothing! The good thing is that for the last 6 months of my service I was named sergeant and placed in an outpost in the Greek-Bulgarian border where my duties were basically...nothing! But the boot camp and non-comissioned officer training are the periods I 'd prefer to forget. I joined the army in August and that meant that the best part of the basic training took place in excessive heat while on the contrary the N.C.O training was scheduled in December, so I quickly became accustomed to sub-zero temperatures. Anyway, now I'm back and I 'm studying for a museology major it's gonna start in Novemer.

Here 're some pictures;

In the colors of war...

This...THING hung at the main dinning hall on the boot camp. I guess it was another mean of psychological warfare. I had to see it at least three times a day (and once I saw it in a nightmare).

Soldiers's rest

outpost on Evros home for 4 months

The nine are about to leave Minas Morgul

NCO training...

OK, I'm now officially frozen!

Dude, what the hell are we doing here?

Anybody seen the trigger?

The "Pelecan" outpost in the Greek-Bulgarian borders.

Another day is over at the "Pelecan" Outpost.

Pity I hadn't had my camera...mobiles suck!

these cuties were born at December 25.

Here is me in a state of "Apolyomai kai Trelainomai" which means "I 'm dismissed and going mad". In my last night before the dismissal the comrades in arms tore up my combat clothing, following a rather old tradition...

Alright, you’re back!!! Hopefully they left your sanity intact. I know whatever new shots you’ve got up your sleeve are gonna be great.

One problem though: I’ve got that stupid song (don’t know if you know it) “WAR! HUNH, GOODGAWD NOW... WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR? ABSOLUTELY NOTHIN!!!!” stuck in my head .... sorry, blaming you for that one :>)

Welcome back man...

I could guess Patty comes from the united states even before reading it ;-)
Well, i guess to serve your country it is really very important, as you have to keep Texaco and Mc Donalds safe from all those barbarians.
Ofcourse Iceland is the only place left for them to invade...

Well the Greek army is quite different from the Usa army: We are not getting paid (ok, we're getting 9.80 Euros per month), we're sent in the borders of Greece, under stressing circumstances. SO you see earthgel, my country did nothing for me, even though had to pause my life for 12 months and see two of my friends commit suicide.
Thanks Kassia I'll try to post some more

Kalo irthate stin patrida aderfi mou! I'm so glad you finally finished your "conviction" and came back to home. =)
Those US people doesn't knows that Greece (and my country Turkey, and some other shitty places) forces young and yet unstable but bright minds to give their lives for nothing but to serve the health and happiness of riches and politicians. Did anyone heard about "OBLIGATED ARMY DUTY" laws? Please show me your hands!

If you've been exposed to same thing you should exactly know what i mean. "Losing your sanity, losing 12 or 15 (even 36 months in Israel) of your most important youth period, losing your health, losing your friends, your family's economical stability, most important thing's losing your LIFE for a f**ked up minded general's order"

My army duty's still pending. I have a fiancee in Greece and when they take me they won't allow me to contact with my family just because of they are living in abroad.... :( That only means one thing for me: INJUSTICE!

I'm asking you all, if you can't have justice from your country then what are you gonna expect more?

I'm so glad that you finished and back still alive and well. =) Believe i really am!! Welcome back to your home! =)
