No longer a photo-virgin

After spending some time on the site utilizing the photos, I figured it was time I started to contribute something of my own. I was able to use the camera from work, a Sony Cyber-Shot 7.2 Megapixel and then travel around the area taking photos.

I've been learning a ton! Lessons learned:

1. Do not take pictures into the sun. They don't work (stupid sun).

2. No matter how fast I can click, animals and birds are faster (stupid birds).

3. Wind makes flowers move, therefore, you have to use the 'super-speedy-sports' setting on the camera (stupid wind).

4. Mother nature does NOT work with you, you have to learn to work AROUND her.

5. It's a time of extreme anxiety waiting to see if your pictures will be accepted. I've learned how to bite my fingernails again, smoke, and have considered drinking profusely.

I'm hoping some of them are accepted, otherwise, I'm going to just have to get out there and work harder at getting decent shots. I've also figured out, I absolutely love this!! I had crappy cameras before, so nothing ever turned out the way I saw it. With this camera, the shots are exactly as I see them. It's a beautiful feeling!

I'm looking forward to learning more about light, texture and playing around with angles. I think my artistic side will really enjoy this!!

Very cool stuff here!

God bless!

1) Depends upon the angle of the sun. My sony came with a lens hood, which enables me to take pictures into the sun (but not obviously *at* the sun). You lose contrast when taking pictures into the sun, but sometimes that effect works nicely!
2) Whenever setting up for a shot, I always drain my battery, by squeezing the trigger down enough to prepare the camera (focus, lighting, and importantly the CCD or equiv.), then when I see what I like, I squeeze the whole way. Hence why I also love rechargeable batteries!

Good luck with the shoots, and getting them accepted on here!

Mm, I have to agree, sometimes shooting into the sun can give great results!

It just depends on the scene!
