A Los Angeles-based company called Graffiti Tracker takes pictures, using GPS cameras, of graffiti in the cities with which it works. The images are recorded with the their date, time, and exact location. Then the photos are analyzed to determine whether the graffiti is simply tagger art or gang-related, and stored in a growing database.

Police use Graffiti Tracker information to both predict where graffiti may next appear, and as evidence once perpetrators are arrested. One client, the city of Pico Rivera CA, has made 60 arrests in the past 9 months based on Graffiti Tracker's data.

"The word is fast getting out there that this is not a good place to tag because they are going to get you," said Pico Rivera police department spokesman Bob Spencer. Australian Associated Press, via Yahoo, 2007-06-02.

Long live grafitti - the true reflection of the "State of the Nation". No wonder Big Brother doesn't want it anywhere.
