Elmi, an artist trained at the NYC School of Visual Arts and the Pratt Institute, left her 35mm camera behind. In its stead, she takes "visual urban abstract" images with her LG8100 cell phone. The quality and depth of the printed images so impressed Drkrm (as in "darkroom") Gallery owner John Matkowsky that he staged a month-long show of Elmi's digital prints.

Not surprisingly, the show was sponsored by LG Electronics, maker of the LG8100.

The show ran from April 21 to May 26. But Drkrm still offers a web page about Elmi's work. ZippyVideos also has a short clip on the show. USA Today, 2007-05-23.
