The woman in this photo is sticking gold leaf to the male fertility statue at one of the largest pagodas in Rangoon. In a mear 2 years after coming to power in 1975, Pol Pot's policies of torture and starvation led to the death of 2 million Cambodians. This massacre is documented in a famous film entitled, "The Killing Fields." The film takes its name from a site outside of Phnom Penh where many of Pol Pot's victims were buried in mass graves. This skull came from one of the 86 excavated mass graves. You can see that the person was killed by a blunt blow to the skull in order to save bullets.
