Engraving by the German painter Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld (March 26, 1794 - May 24, 1872) This illustration was published the first time in "Die Bibel in Bildern"(1860) (Bible with engravings) and is showing the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. The page is photographed from an original book dated 1860. Digital restoration by gldburger. So God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
