Visit my entire Wild Horse portfolio. These rare mustangs represent what remains of few primeval horses from Portugal. Many Spanish breeds made their way to America (or back to America) including the Sorraia. The zebra-like stripping, dark dorsal strip down their backs, and dun colors highlight their primitive genetic make-up. These horses from the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary in Hot Springs, South Dakota originally came from the Sulphur Springs BLM herds in Utah which have been found to include many excellent representatives of the Sorraia type, or form III horse. This is DNA Gold in my humble opinion! They have very friendly dispositions and become excellent riding horses. Foals are adopted every year from the sanctuary to support their efforts to preserve this unique sub-species of a remarkable horse.
