An entrance hall at Mission San Juan Capistrano, a historic landmark in southern California, USA. The Mission was founded in 1775. By 1821, Mexico won its independence from Spain, which made Alta California a territory of Mexico. Under new governmental direction, the Mission faced continued decline.
