Napoleon Wrasse Cheilinus undulatus at the cleaning station of the Cleaner Wrasse Labroides dimidiatus at the deep outer reef of Fish Head, North Ari Atoll, Maldives 3°56'7.57"N, 72°54'32.28"E Adults of Napoleon Wrasses develop thick lips and a prominent bulbous hump on the forehead and can grow up to more than 2.2 meters. This species inhabit steep outer reef slopes, channel slopes, and lagoon reefs. Primary food are mollusks, fishes, sea urchins, crustaceans, and other invertebrates. One of the few predators of toxic animals such as sea hares, boxfishes and crown-of-thorns starfish. Napoleon Wrasse is is seriously endangered, being hunted to the brink of extinction to feed a growing demand among wealthy Chinese diners for luxury live fish.
