Volcanic rock stacked atop existing boulders to form an exterior cliff dwelling wall. The Sinagua Indian tribe that selected this site did so for its position atop a high desert promentory. On the opposite side of the site a sheer cliff drops to a long steep hill that descends to a dry riverbed - allowing no access from that side. This wall includes small portals where rocks were omitted so that arrows could be fired through them, permitting concealment from enemy attack. The wall has only one entrance opening and visibility is good for hundreds of yards. Site selection was critical for the Sinagua, and perfectly executed here. This culture combined hunting and gathering with agriculture, but the latter was challenging in this arrid, high desert wilderness terrain. The exact site location, which requires considerable effort to reach, is intentionally omitted. Its estimated age dates to 1300 AD - 1400 AD.
