The Carmel Mission is otherwise known as the San Carlos Borroméo de Carmelo Mission (1771), and it's incredible - a real slice of Meditteranean life, right slap bang on the West coast of America. Very bizarre juxtaposition, but a welcome one nonetheless. | | The late Pope John Paul II visited the place in September 1987. Nice guy Carmel Mission church SF: Panorama: Carmel Mission
